This delightful five-day loop trek takes us through the rough and tumble valleys of the Kackar range in Northeastern Turkey, up to the 3,750 meter summit of Mt. Kackar and back down to the hill village of Ayder and its hot springs. Along the way we’ll pass pure, flowing streams and crystalline tarns, catch a glimpse of traditional Turkish rural life, and enjoy the simple beauty and serenity of this remote mountain region. The preceding Shabbat in Istanbul will acquaint us with the former capital of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, and one of the world’s great metropolises.

Duration: 7 days (5 days of trekking) including 1 Shabbat

Trekking Grade: Level 3 / moderate

Size of group: 6 to 12

Food: Vegetarian fare (including fresh fish), prepared and served in new pots and utensils by our trail cook.
